992-gen 911 Turbo S produces 650hp and 800Nm
0-100kph in 2.7s, 0-200kph in 8.9s (claimed)
Launch and deliveries only by end-2020 or early-2021
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak may have temporarily hit the brakes on new model launches, but for those interested, Porsche has opened order books for the all-new 911 Turbo S, and has even revealed the price for it on its online configurator – Rs 3.08 crore (ex-showroom, without options). As usual, there are a variety of extras to choose from, and ticking many of those boxes will easily take the Turbo S' price closer to Rs 4 crore. Sources tell Autocar India the launch of the new 911 Turbo S was originally slated for Q3 2020, but will now likely be delayed to the end of the year or early 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S gets a turbocharged, 3.8-litre flat-six engine that puts out a colossal 650hp and 800Nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels via an 8-speed PDK automatic gearbox. With a 0-100kph time of just 2.7 seconds, the 992-gen Turbo S is the quickest-accelerating series-production Porsche 911 till date. Even more impressive is its 0-200kph time of 8.9s – a full second quicker than the previous-gen model. Top speed is rated at 330kph.
The new 911 Turbo S is significantly wider than its predecessor, and also has a much wider track. 20-inch wheels come standard (with 21-inchers available as an option), and ceramic composite brakes – with 10-piston calipers – are also on the options list.
Inside, it gets a GT-style multi-function steering wheel, a 10.9-inch Porsche Communication Management infotainment screen, the Sport Chrono package with Porsche Track Precision app, 18-way adjustable sports seats, and a Bose sound system.
