Porsche has revealed the driver-focused GTS versions of their mid-engined 718 Cayman coupe and Boxster convertible.

While it will debut publically at the upcoming Los Angeles motor show held in November, Porsche has digitally taken the wraps off the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS, both sporting 365hp, an increase of about 15hp over the S versions of the mid-engined duo.

The previous generation Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS came with 3.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engines producing 330hp and 340hp, respectively, along with 380Nm of peak torque. The new GTS shares its 2.5-litre, four-cylinder flat-four engine with the other models in the 718 series though tuned to deliver 365hp and 430Nm of peak torque between 1,900 and 5,000rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual gearbox or optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The models also feature a mechanical rear differential, the Sport Chrono package for use on a track day along with Porsche Track Precision App, which enables the driver to record, display and analyse data on their smartphone, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) that lowers the body by ten millimetres and an electronically controlled torque vectoring function (Porsche Torque Vectoring) for the driven wheels.

The external changes to the 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS include a slightly tweaked front bumper, black tinted headlamps and tail-lamps, centrally-mounted black exhaust pipes, black GTS badges at the base of the doors and standard black satin finished 20-inch alloy wheels.

In the cabin, the GTS versions comes with more Alcantara on the seats, steering wheel, centre console and armrests

The GTS versions will top the 718 range for the moment as Porsche has talked about the possibility of a 718 Cayman GT4 with a naturally aspirated flat-six motor and there is high potential for the introduction of a 718 Boxster Spyder.

There is no word on when Porsche will bring these models to India, where it currently sells the standard 718 Cayman and Boxster with the 300hp, 2.0-litre turbocharged flat-four at Rs 81.63 lakh and 85.53 lakh, respectively (prices ex-showroom, India).
