Audi India has issued a recall for e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT models made between January 9, 2020, and June 12 of this year due to an issue with the brake hoses on the front axle. A SIAM document states that 37 units of the two high-performance EV sedans have been recalled.

The recall document also mentions that over time and continuous usage, “significant tension” caused by the steering may be applied on the front brake hoses, which may result in cracks forming near the points of their attachment. If this occurs, it will lead to a loss of brake fluid and sudden failure of the front brakes.
While the circular notes that the rear brakes would continue to be functional and the EVs will brake at a reduced rate, further leaking of the brake fluid in the reservoir will result in a message on the digital instrument cluster that reads, “Brakes: stop vehicle and check brake fluid level”.
The Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT are currently priced at Rs 1.72 crore and 1.95 crore, respectively, and come with a 93.4kWh battery pack. In the 530hp GT Quattro, the battery provides a WLTP range of 500km, while in the 646hp RS Quattro, it is rated at 481km. Audi’s high-performance all-electric sedans rival the Porsche Taycan (Rs 1.89 crore-2.53 crore) and the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 (Rs 2.45 crore).
