The Skoda Kodiaq has been on sale in India for well over two years, and is an attractive option for those looking for a premium European SUV with three rows of seats. However, up until now, the Kodiaq could only be had with a diesel engine. But that changes with the Skoda Kodiaq 2.0 TSI petrol that has made its first appearance at Auto Expo 2020 in Noida.
As with the Superb facelift (also showcased at Auto Expo 2020), the 2.0-litre TSI makes 190hp and 320Nm of torque, and is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic. Like before, all-wheel drive is standard on the Kodiaq. It’s important to highlight that with the arrival of the 2.0-litre TSI, the Kodiaq will become a petrol-only model. The leap to BS6 emission norms marks the end of the road for the venerable 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine.
A change of powertrain aside, the Kodiaq remains largely unchanged.
The Kodiaq on display at the Auto Expo is the top-spec Laurin & Klement variant. As such the equipment on offer is the same as the outgoing diesel top-spec version – Skoda’s ‘Virtual Cockpit’ digital instrument cluster and a panoramic sunroof are standard.
Expect the Skoda Kodiaq 2.0 TSI's prices to be roughly the same as that of the BS4-compliant diesel Kodiaq with prices in the range of Rs 32.99-36.79 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).
