Tata unveiled the Harrier Red Dark edition and the Safari Red Dark edition at Auto Expo 2023. The carmaker already has the Dark edition of the two SUVs, but the ‘Red’ prefix brings more than just cosmetic changes. This new edition adds a larger, improved touchscreen and ADAS tech to the Harrier and Safari line-up, and previews features that will most likely make their way into the regular models. Tata is set to launch the Harrier and Safari Red Dark editions later this year.

Tata Harrier, Safari Red Dark: ADAS tech
The biggest talking point about the Red Dark edition is the ADAS tech it debuts on Tata’s flagship SUVs. The ADAS tech in Harrier and Safari Red Dark editions includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), forward collision alert, lane assist and even traffic sign recognition. In addition to these advanced crash avoidance features, the Red Dark edition also comes with six airbags.

Tata Harrier, Safari Red Dark: new infotainment, more features
Also making its debut here is Tata’s improved infotainment system. The touchscreen is now larger, at 10.25-inch, and like before gets the nine-speaker JBL sound system. Moreover, the Harrier and Safari Red Dark editions get a new, full-digital instrument cluster, instead of the semi-digital one offered on regular variants. Also new is a 360-degree camera.
Other features include an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function and ventilated front seats. The three-row Safari additionally comes with a ventilation function for the second row, powered front passenger seat with ‘Boss’ mode, which allows the rear passenger to move the seat ahead, and ambient lighting around the panoramic sunroof.
Tata Harrier, Safari Red Dark editions: cosmetic changes
Like the Dark edition, the Red Dark edition also features an all-black exterior with a slightly different shade that Tata calls ‘Oberon Black’. It gets 18-inch alloys with red brake calipers and also a subtle red insert on the front grille.
On the inside, the Red Dark edition does justice to its name. It features ‘Carnelian’ red seat upholstery with a quilted pattern, red leatherette grab handles, grey trim on the dashboard, and piano black inserts on the steering wheel.
There are no mechanical changes to the two SUVs, and they continue to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Tata has confirmed that the Harrier and Safari Red Dark editions will be launched this year, though the exact date is still not known.

Tata has an expansive display at the Auto Expo this year. In addition to the Red Dark editions, the homegrown carmaker also showcased the Harrier EV, Curvv coupe-SUV, Sierra and Altroz Racer.
