BMW has showcased the recently unveiled and more powerful i3S at the 2018 Auto Expo. The brand has not confirmed any India plans yet, saying only that it’s currently open to a possible market introduction and is studying the feasibility.
The i3S is essentially an updated and sportier version of the regular i3. The most vital change made is a more powerful synchronous electric motor that produces 184hp power (14hp more that the standard car) and 270Nm of torque (20Nm higher). It uses the same lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 33.2kWh and BMW claim a maximum range of 280km.
The car also comes with an optional range extender with the help of a rear-mounted 647cc two-cylinder petrol engine, bringing with it an additional 120kg in kerb weight. It is a generator that provides electrical charge to the floor-mounted battery, when required.
Other changes to the car are a broader rear track, a retuned lower-suspension setup and changes to the outsides and in.
