In the latest round of Latin NCAP crash tests, the refreshed Ford Figo (called the Ka in Latin American markets) has scored a three-star rating. The hatchback was given three stars for adult occupancy and four stars for child occupancy.

The report by safety rating organisation said that the Ka provided adequate to good protection overall but marked it down as the driver side airbag bottomed out during the frontal crash tests while the driver and front passenger protection was deemed marginal. Points were also deducted for the rear door opening during the side impact tests.

In terms of safety kit, the Brazil-spec Figo comes with dual front airbags, ABS, seat belt pretensioners at the front and Isofix child seat mounts at the rear as standard. The lack of electronic stability control, a requirement for the Latin NCAP, also saw marks deducted.

For India, Ford will first bring the updated Figo-based compact sedan, the Aspire facelift to our market on October 4, 2018. The refreshed Aspire, like its hatchback sibling, will share styling cues, equipment and the new 96hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine with the already available Freestyle cross-hatch, which is also based on the Figo hatchback.
