Today, Ford India has crossed a major milestone – a little over 20 years after it established its presence in the country, Ford has breached the 1 million unit sales mark. The one millionth car – a Ford Freestyle – was delivered to a customer today in New Delhi.
Over the last two decades, Ford India has rolled out hits such as the Ikon, the original Fiesta and Figo, and the Endeavour and the EcoSport. And in its bid to prepare for the future, the company has joined hands with Mahindra, which will see the two co-develop SUVs and electric vehicles, and even share engines.
Ford registered cumulative domestic sales of 8,444 units in June, registering a notable growth of 37 percent (June 2017: 6,149). At this time, the company is readying the Figo and Aspire facelifts for launch later this year, and Ford dealers are clearing stocks of the pre-facelift models. Dealerships in Delhi quote a cash discount of up to Rs 1 lakh, while Mumbai dealers quoted Rs 80,000. Other benefits on offer on the Figo and Aspire are loans at 0 percent interest and an exchange bonus.
