  2. It was India’s top CV exporter during H1 FY2025, with 9,745 units

The Indian subsidiary of the Japanese brand started operations at the Sri City facility in April 2016. In 2020, Phase 2 operations introduced new facilities, including a press shop and an engine assembly plant. Since then, the plant has produced over 14 lakh pressed parts. Under Isuzu’s “Make in India” strategy, vehicle and engine production capacity has doubled over the last two years.

“Over the years, the company has achieved significant milestones in both production and exports. A key highlight is that 22 percent of our production line workforce comprises talented women, showcasing our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion. Additionally, 100 percent of our production workforce are diploma engineers,” Rajesh Mittal, president and managing director of Isuzu Motors India, said on the achievement.

Between April and September (H1 FY2025), Isuzu emerged as India’s top commercial vehicle exporter, shipping 9,745 units and capturing a 27 percent market share, as per data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

Commenting on the occasion, Toru Kishimoto, deputy managing director of Isuzu Motors India, said, “India is a market of immense potential and strategic importance to Isuzu, and we remain committed to delivering value-driven and innovative mobility solutions.”

In addition to the V-Cross, Isuzu’s line-up includes the Hi-Lander pickup truck and the mu-X SUV. All three models were updated in April to meet Real Driving Emissions (RDE) norms, featuring enhancements like an idle start-stop system, low-friction tyres and a transmission fluid warmer for automatic variants.
