While Kia has had the fourth-gen Carnival on sale in international markets for some time now, in India, the brand had continued with the previous-gen model until it silently removed the MPV from its website recently. The Korean company had showcased this new model as the Kia KA4 at the 2023 Auto Expo, but the most recent spy shots confirm that India will be getting the facelift that was first revealed in October this year.
- Carnival spy shots show new front-end design
- Rear and side seem similar to the model on sale abroad
- Likely to continue with 2.2-litre diesel engine
2024 Kia Carnival: design
Compared to the KA4, the spy images of Kia’s large MPV show new L-shaped vertical LED headlights framed by long LED DRLs, a differently designed ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, along with a re-contoured front bumper. The spied Carnival’s rear looks similar to the one that was showcased in November – the tapering L-shaped all-LED tail-lights that are connected by an LED light band are visible – but the heavy camouflage hides the rest. New square-ish alloy wheels are also apparent.
Overall, the 2024 Carnival will sport a more rugged, SUV-inspired look, while having distinctive design elements that keep it in line with newer Kia cars and SUVs. The India-bound Carnival will also be larger than the model that is currently on sale in India.
2024 Kia Carnival: interior
Although the spy shots do not reveal anything new about the Carnival facelift’s cabin, we expect it’ll be more minimalistic with two 12.3-inch displays taking centre stage. The MPV is also expected to get reworked AC and audio controls located below the central screen, a rotary drive selector, front and rear dash cameras, a heads up display, a digital rear view mirror, an updated digital key, ambient lighting along the dashboard and the option to start the vehicle with your fingerprint. While the MPV is offered in 7-, 9- and 11-seat configurations overseas, it remains to be seen which will be offered in the Indian market.
2024 Kia Carnival: engine
While the Carnival in international markets gets 3.5-litre petrol, 1.6-litre petrol-electric, and 2.2-litre diesel engine options, the model for India is likely to continue with the current MPV’s 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit and automatic transmission.
2024 Kia Carnival: price, rivals
When it arrives in 2024, the Carnival facelift is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 26 lakh-35 lakh, ex-showroom, India. This means that MPVs like the Toyota Innova Hycross can be considered as an alternative at that price point.
