The Land Rover Defender has received two new engine options in the Indian market – a six-cylinder turbo-petrol and a six-cylinder turbo-diesel.

In our market, Land Rover is offering the six-cylinder diesel and petrol engine options with both, the smaller Defender 90 (3-door) and the larger 110 (5-door). The diesel-powered Defender is available in four trims – SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE and X. It is worth mentioning that while the X-Dynamic HSE trim is similar to the HSE in terms of equipment, it gets various cosmetic changes on the interior and exterior. It is a similar case with the X trim.

The six-cylinder P400 petrol’s smaller 90 version is available in five trims – SE, HSE, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE and First Edition. While the larger 110 version is only offered in four trims – SE, HSE, X-Dynamic SE and First Edition.
In terms of equipment the top-spec Defender gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, automatic climate control, connected car tech, wireless charging, a Meridian audio system, 12-way electrically adjustable and heated front seats, a 360-degree surround camera and much more.
Land Rover Defender: engine and power output details
Under the hood, the Land Rover Defender can now be had with a 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 400hp and 550Nm. There is also the option of a 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that churns out 300hp and 650Nm. Both engine options feature mild-hybrid technology and come paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. They also get a four-wheel drive system as standard.

As things stand, the Land Rover Defender is now available with three powertrain options in India. These include a 300hp, 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol (P300) as well as engine as the above mentioned, the 400hp, 3.0-litre, turbo-petrol (P400) and 300hp, 3.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine (D300).
Besides this, Land Rover has also begun accepting bookings for the P400e plug-in hybrid variant which is expected to join the line-up later this year.
