JLR India has updated its Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Discovery models by offering advanced connectivity features under the InControl Package. The package includes three connectivity features called Protect, Remote Premium and Secure Tracker. The InControl Package, introduced in 2017, used to include a 4G WiFi hotspot, and now also comes with Land Rover Optimised Assistance and SOS Emergency Call.
The Protect feature helps the customers in case of a breakdown. An ‘Optimised Assistance’ button is added on the left of the overhead console which when pressed, establishes a connection between the owner and a helpline operator who will guide the service unit to the vehicle. This feature can also be accessed from the InControl Remote smartphone app. In a more serious incident, SOS Emergency Call will automatically connect the user to the emergency response team who will notify the emergency services to the user’s location. Emergency Assistance can also be triggered manually by the user by pressing the button on the right-hand side of the overhead console.
The Remote Premium feature will provide information on the vehicle via the app and also enable the owner to interact with the vehicle remotely. This app allows owners to remotely use the climate control system and adjust it to the desired temperature, receive alerts when the alarm sounds and also remotely lock and unlock the vehicle. It also helps to locate the car in crowded parking spaces by sounding the horn and flashing the lights.
The third feature of the InControl Package is the Secure Tracker. Should a vehicle be tampered with or stolen, the Secure Tracker will notify the ‘Stolen Vehicle Tracking Centre’ which will immediately alert the owner of the car via the app. It will also pinpoint the exact location of the vehicle for recovery.
Prices of the models have not been affected by the additional connectivity features.
