Alongside the new Scorpio N, Mahindra will continue to sell its predecessor, which will be rebranded the Scorpio Classic and will make its debut on August 12. In its rebranded form, the Scorpio Classic will get subtle exterior and interior changes, more features and an overhauled suspension set-up, but continue with the 7- and 9-seater configurations.

New Scorpio Classic: exterior and interior changes

As evident from the recent spy pictures, the Scorpio Classic's exterior and interior is largely unchanged. The Classic will feature a new grille design and a faux skid plate, and get Mahindra’s new ‘Twin Peaks’ logo. The Scorpio Classic gets 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels on the higher trims, while the base variant now gets steel wheels.

On the inside, the Scorpio Classic will get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with a touch-sensitive control on the left hand side of the screen. Additionally, Mahindra has added dark wooden trim inserts in the centre console and piano black inserts on the dashboard. It will also feature a new gear lever that's borrowed from models like the XUV700 and Thar.

New Mahindra Scorpio Classic: technical details

We had previously reported that the new Scorpio Classic will get a rehauled suspension set-up, which will help reduce the body roll and top-heavy handling – two common complaints of the original Scorpio. The SUV will be powered by a sole 140hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. It will not get an option of an automatic gearbox or 4WD.
