Mahindra has been hard at work to increase the production of its popular models, with the Scorpio range being one of the biggest beneficiaries. In the April-September 2024 period, wholesales of the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic, have been averaging over 13,500 units a month, and despite that, waiting periods for both these 3-row ladder-frame SUVs have come down significantly. Here’s a variant-wise breakup of how long a buyer would have to wait for delivery if they book their new Scorpio N or Classic today.

  1. Higher-spec Scorpio N Z8 S has the longest delivery time
  2. Scorpio N Z4 petrol-AT has the shortest waiting period
  3. Scorpio Classic waiting period halved from up to 5 months

The table shows that the entry-level Z2 petrol and diesel variants have a waiting period of just a month now, a significant reduction from the over five-month period, a few months ago. Meanwhile, the Scorpio N Z4 petrol-AT has the shortest delivery time of less than a month. It is the higher-spec Z8 S, which has the longest waiting period, of up to 2.5 months, regardless of which engine or gearbox option the buyer chooses. Buyers who opt for the mid-spec diesel Z4 and Z6 will have to wait about 1.5 months for delivery, and those who choose the range-topping Z8 and Z8 L variants will wait for just a month.

The Mahindra Scorpio N is currently priced between Rs 13.85-24.54 lakh and is available with two engine options – a 203hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 175hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both have 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options, but it’s only the diesel that has a 4WD option. As with the XUV700, wait times for the 6-seat and ESP variants differ from dealership to dealership. Check with your local showroom for exact details of these versions.

Mahindra recently launched the Scorpio Classic Boss edition, to boost sales.

Compared to a few months ago, when buyers of the Scorpio Classic would have had to wait 4-5 months for the top-spec S11 variant, and up to 2 months for the entry-level S trim, those looking to buy the SUV now, will have to wait just a month and a half for delivery. The Mahindra Scorpio Classic is powered by a sole 132hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine that comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, as standard.
