Mahindra has started dispatches and customer deliveries of the second-from-base Scorpio N Z4 variant. Prices for the entire Scorpio N range were announced back in June and July and deliveries of the top-spec Scorpio Z8 L began in September this year. The Scorpio N Z4 is priced between Rs 13.49 lakh and Rs 16.44 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Scorpio N Z4: features
The Scorpio N Z4 comes with halogen headlamps, 17-inch steel wheels and LED tail-lights. Compared to the higher-spec Z8, the Scorpio N Z4 gets minimal chrome embellishments outside and most of it has been replaced by a piano black finish.
On the inside, the Scorpio N Z4 gets the same 8.0-inch touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as the higher variants. Instead of a 7-inch multi-info display in the instrument cluster, the Scorpio N Z4 gets a smaller 4.2-inch colour display. In addition, it gets manual air conditioning controls, fabric upholstery and traction control, among other features. Interestingly, the Scorpio N Z4 also gets the three driving modes – Zip, Zap and Zoom – but they are not mentioned on the website.
Mahindra Scorpio N Z4: powertrain
Engine options on the Scorpio N Z4 include a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 203hp and 370Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 175hp and 370Nm of torque. Both can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. However, both engines produce 380Nm and 400Nm of torque with the automatic gearbox, respectively.
While the Z4 trim comes with rear-wheel drive as standard, the Scorpio N Z4 diesel automatic variant gets four-wheel drive as an option.
Mahindra Scorpio N: delivery details
As mentioned, Mahindra had initially focused only on delivering the higher variants of the Scorpio N. The SUV has been one of the biggest launches for Mahindra this year, with waiting periods for some variants going up to two years. While Mahindra has been working on reducing the delivery periods of the Scorpio N, the top-spec Z8 L trims can be had within four months of booking, going down from 17 months. However, other variants – Z2, Z4, Z6 and Z8 – still have a waiting period of 22 to 25 months, depending on the location.
Last month, we reported that despite Mahindra producing 17,000 units of the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic, it has over 1.3 lakh units of both SUVs yet to be delivered. Mahindra says it is working on reducing the waiting periods of these two SUVs as well as the XUV700 and Thar by ramping up production in the next 12 months. Mahindra has recalled 6,618 units of the Scorpio N with a manual gearbox to replace the rubber bellow inside the bell housing.
