Maruti Suzuki's first electric SUV, the eVX, has been spied on test yet again. This time, however, it reveals a few new design details.

  1. Maruti eVX to get Y-shaped front LED DRLs, tail-lamps
  2. Launch expected next year
  3. To rival upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV

Maruti eVX spy shots: exterior design

The latest spy shots have emerged from Southern Europe thanks to our friends at Motor.es, where the eVX has been undergoing summer testing. While the prototype still wears a significant amount of camouflage, the headlamps and tail-lamps are visible for the first time. The Y-shaped headlamps have been slightly redesigned on this near-production model over the concept that was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. They are also much different from the ones seen on previous test mules.

The tail-lamps' styling is similar to the headlamps, and it could get a light bar running across the tailgate – as seen on the concept. Although the alloy wheels feature a rather simple multi-spoke design, it is expected to change in the production-ready version. The eVX’s platform will also be used by Toyota for its own midsize electric SUV that will follow later.

Maruti eVX: production, launch details

The eVX's production was supposed to start in September 2024, but it was moved to February 2025. It will be manufactured in India and exported to Japan and Europe. The brand is currently addressing multiple battery supply and software challenges that have delayed the start of production.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta EV, its direct rival, will launch in January 2025, with production set to begin at the end of 2024. The upcoming Tata Curvv EV SUV-coupe is also a rival, and its launch will precede both the Maruti eVX and the Hyundai Creta EV.
