Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall for 40,618 units of its Wagon R 1.0-litre hatchback to inspect a potential issue of the fuel hose fouling with a metal clamp. The recall only affects cars manufactured between November 15, 2018 and August 12, 2019.
Beginning from August 24, Maruti Suzuki’s dealers will get in touch with the owners of the affected vehicles for inspection and replacement of the faulty parts for no cost. Alternatively, customers of suspected vehicles can visit the ‘Important Customer Info’ tab on the company’s website and fill in their vehicle’s chassis number (MA3 followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) to check if their vehicle needs rectification. The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and is also in the vehicle invoice and registration documents.
The all-new Wagon R was launched on January 23, 2019 at Rs 4.19 lakh. Alongside the 68hp, 1.0-litre unit, the tallboy hatch can be had with a BS6-compliant 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine too. Gearbox options for both engines include a 5-speed manual or AMT.
In terms of rivals, the Wagon R competes with the Tata Tiago, the Hyundai Santro and the Datsun Go. Recently, the carmaker launched the Ertiga-based XL6 six-seater at Rs 9.80 lakh.
