Hot on the heels of the launch of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the EQS 580 4Matic will launch in India on September 21. This will be the first Mercedes EV to be assembled in India, as its AMG version and its other EV in India – the EQC – were brought in as CBUs.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic will be assembled at the firm’s plant in Chakan, which is a first for the facility as it currently only makes a wide range of internal combustion engine products.
The EQS 580, globally unveiled last year, has a dual-motor set-up that churns out 523hp and 856Nm of torque. It gets a 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery and a range of up to 770km on the WLTP cycle.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ was launched in India on August 24 and is the most expensive EV, priced at Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom, India). The AMG EQS 53 also gets a dual-motor set-up that produces up to 761hp and 1020Nm of torque. Like the EQS 580, it also has a 107.8kWh battery but a lower range of up to 586km on a single charge.
