Following a rather subdued 2019 – in which it only launched the V-class, G 350d and GLC facelift – Mercedes-Benz India will step on the throttle in 2020, with four new models lined up for launch. The manufacturer has put out a video on Twitter previewing its upcoming year. This video reveals four new models that will join the Mercedes-Benz India line-up during 2020.

First off is the much anticipated new-gen GLE SUV. The all-new model, which is slated to launch this month, will come with a 245hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and a 367hp, 3.0-litre turbo-petrol unit. We exclusively reviewed the next-gen SUV back in December 2019.

Apart from the standard GLE, the video also shows teaser images of the new-gen GLE Coupe. This model will replace the current-gen GLE Coupe that’s still on sale in a solitary AMG 43 variant and is priced at Rs 99.20 lakh. The video also hints at an ‘AMG 53’ variant of the GLE, however, it’s unclear whether this version will be brought down in the standard SUV or in the coupe like the current model.

Mercedes’ next-gen GLS is also lined up for a 2020 launch. The seven-seater SUV is likely to arrive with 330hp, 3.0-litre turbo-diesel and a 367hp, 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine options with hybrid tech. We’ve driven the upcoming SUV overseas and were impressed by the space, luxury and technology it offers. Bookings for the all-new GLS will begin in the coming days.

Finally, the video also reveals the possible arrival of the four-door AMG GT. Available internationally in 43, 53, 63 and 63 S guises, the super sedan will rival the Porsche Panamera, the Maserati Quattroporte and the Aston Martin Rapide in India. However, it’s unclear as to which iteration of the GT four-door will make it down to our market.

Apart from these, Mercedes-Benz India is also likely to launch the all-new GLB SUV and A-class sedan, along with the facelifted E-class sedan, in 2020. The carmaker is also evaluating the Maybach GLS 600 for its India line-up, given the Maybach S-class’ popularity here.
