MG Motor India is all set to begin its operations in the second quarter of next year. The dealer operations will be spearheaded by Pankaj Parkar, who was appointed in July 2017.
We can confirm today that the brand will have 45 dealerships, initially, which include sales and service outlets. The carmaker will have a total of 100 customer touch points when it starts its India operations. Further on, the company will not increase dealer numbers rapidly as it wants to give a chance to its initially appointed dealers to be profitable.
MG Motor India will have its flagship dealership at Gurugram along with its official headquarters for India operations. In an effort to better take on competition from established rivals, MG aims to adopt an approach that places a strong emphasis on a rich customer experience at all its outlets.
The company’s first SUV will be slightly larger than the Tucson, as far as dimensions go. However, thanks to around 80 percent localisation right from the word go, MG Motor India is targeting a competitive price for the SUV.
MG Motor India is expected to play the ‘aggressive pricing’ and ‘premium positioning’ card as it takes on giants like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai in the Indian market.
