Mitsubishi is planning to expand the Pajero Sport India line-up by introducing the automatic variant to the Indian market this August. Deliveries are expected to start in September.
The current model of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport comes equipped with a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel motor that is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The clutchless version is likely to get a five-speed automatic box mated to the same motor. The new car is also expected to get a few aesthetic improvements. The fascia could get a new grille and bumpers. On the inside, expect to see more equipment, lighter shades and an overall upmarket feel.
Mitsubishi may charge a premium of around Rs 1-1.5 lakh for the Pajero Sport automatic over the existing manual model. When it hits the market, the Pajero Sport automatic will take on the likes of Hyundai's Santa Fe and Toyota's Fortuner.
