Bentley Continental GT PHEV: what’s new?

Despite the camouflaging on the Continental GT, the headlamps’ outline is visible in the pictures. The headlights now have a teardrop design inspired by the highly exclusive Batur; however, their overall shape is more rounded.

The new Continental GT will be the first Bentley to use the new ‘ultra-performance hybrid’ set-up, which pairs an uprated 4.0-litre V8 with a single electric motor that is expected to be integrated into the gearbox. The two combine to produce 782hp and a whopping 1,001Nm of peak torque, which makes it even more potent than the 750hp W12 fitted in the Batur. The new V8 PHEV is replacing the V8 and W12 powertrains.

Bentley claimed a 0-100kph sprint time of 3.6 seconds for the old Continental GT W12; the upcoming model is likely to be quicker. But the British automaker is yet to reveal the performance figures for it.

To preserve its dynamic character, the incoming fourth-generation car receives dual-valve dampers, tweaked active anti-roll bars, revised torque vectoring and a four-wheel steering system.

Bentley Continental GT PHEV: India launch details

Following a global launch, the new Continental GT PHEV is expected to be brought to India as the existing model’s replacement. With the old V8 engine gone, the new Continental GT’s base price will likely be much higher.
