Porsche India will introduce the new, third-gen Cayenne on October 17. The company had earlier announced pricing for the top-spec Cayenne Turbo back in May. Now, we’ve exclusively got our hands on the complete pricing for the third-gen Porsche Cayenne range.

The new Cayenne will have three variants in India. The most affordable of the lot will be the Porsche Cayenne base trim that is priced from Rs 1.19 crore. The next model in the range will be the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid that costs Rs 1.58 crore, followed by the top-spec Porsche Cayenne Turbo that went on sale earlier this year at a price of Rs 1.92 crore.

The base Cayenne comes with a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol V6 motor good for 335hp and 450Nm of torque. The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid comes with a a 3.0-litre V6 with 462hp and 700Nm of torque working in tandem with a 14.1kWh battery while the top-spec Cayenne Turbo gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo, V8 petrol motor generating 550hp and 770Nm of torque. Unlike the second-gen model, Porsche will not be bringing a diesel engine with the new one.

In terms of design, the new Cayenne borrows a lot of cues from its sedan stable-mate, the Panamera. At the back, it features a Panamera-esque continuous light band for the tail-lamps and stop lamps. The Porsche lettering stretches horizontally across the centre as well. At the front, it gets a re-worked grille and features Porsche’s signature four-point LED DRLs in the headlamps, which also now feature the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS).

The cabin of the new Cayenne is heavily inspired by the Panamera’s interior with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system being the centrepiece. Other updates include glass-like touch surfaces for the centre console buttons that provide acoustic and haptic feedback.

The SUV is built on Volkswagen Group’s MLB-Evo platform that also underpins other SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus. The new Cayenne is longer and wider in its proportions compared to the older model, but will be lighter by up to 65kg owing to the extensive use of aluminium for the body panels. However, the wheelbase remains the same as the outgoing Cayenne.

Bookings for the new Cayenne range in India are open with deliveries being promised in December this year or January next year.

The Cayenne is Porsche’s best-selling model in India and rivals the likes of the Range Rover Sport and the BMW X5 M in our market.
