Kia has launched the all-new fourth-gen Carnival which has been priced at Rs 63.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This latest MPV is available in a single fully-loaded Limousine trim that's powered by a sole diesel engine and, at least initially, is only available as a 7-seater. The Korean company has also announced prices for its flagship EV, the EV9, today.
- New Carnival comes to India as a CBU initially
- It gets a 2+2+3 seating configuration
- Is powered by 193hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine
Like its predecessor, the new Carnival has been brought to India as a CKD model, but its asking price is significantly higher than the previous-gen Carnival that topped out at around Rs 33-34 lakh, ex-showroom. That said, the new MPV sees a notable step up in size, features and luxury quotient. At this price, the Carnival doesn't have any direct rival in India as it finds itself sandwiched between the Toyota Innova Hycross (Rs 19.77 lakh – Rs 30.98 lakh) at one and end and the Toyota Vellfire (Rs 1.22 crore - Rs 1.32 crore) at the other end.
2024 Kia Carnival interior, exterior highlights
As we reported when bookings opened on September 16 for Rs 2 lakh, the model being brought to India is the facelift of the fourth-generation Carnival, which has been on sale in international markets since November last year. It gets a boxier and sharper design compared to its predecessor and features Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, flanked by vertically stacked LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, as well as 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The L-motif continues at the rear, with the tail-lights being connected by an LED light bar.
The Carnival for India gets two exterior colour options – Glacier White Pearl and Fusion Black – and two dual-tone theme interior options – Navy and Misty Gray, and Tuscan and Umber. The cabin gets a 2+2+3 seating layout, with second-row captain seats with heating and ventilation, along with adjustable leg support.
2024 Kia Carnival features
The Carnival is available in a single, fully-loaded variant that gets dual 12.3-inch curved displays, a 4-spoke steering wheel, dual electric sunroofs, three-zone climate control, a 11-inch head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a 12-way powered driver’s seat and wireless charging pads. The HVAC controls are a mix of haptic touch surfaces and physical dials. The real talking point, however, has to be the powered second-row captain chairs with heating, ventilation and extendable leg support. It also comes with a powered tailgate and powered sliding rear doors.
Safety features include 8 airbags, rear disc brakes, ESC, Hill Assist Control, a tyre pressure monitor, front, rear and side parking sensors, 360-degree camera and an ADAS Level 2 suite. The ADAS features include Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, High Beam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more.
2024 Kia Carnival powertrain
Like its predecessor, the new Carnival gets a sole 2.2-litre diesel engine. In this model, the unit makes 193hp and 441Nm of peak torque and comes paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
Kia is also offering three years of free mainenance, warranty and road side assistance with the new Carnival. Kia says it has already amassed 2,796 bookings for the all-new MPV.
