Having launched the all-new Kia Carnival on October 3, the Korean brand has now announced that there is currently a six-month waiting period for the MPV. Along with high demand for the Rs 63.90 lakh MPV, this also means that buyers who book the fourth-gen Carnival today will have to wait until May or June for delivery.
- Kia receives over 550 Carnival bookings since launch
- Demand between both colour options split evenly
New Kia Carnival booking details
Kia India says that since bookings commenced on September 16, it has received 3,350 orders. Considering it had amassed around 2,796 bookings for the MPV at the time of launch, the remaining 554 bookings would have been made in the last month and a half.
The new Carnival is available in a single fully loaded, 7-seater (2+2+3 seating configuration) trim with two colour options. The Korean brand has announced that both – Glacier White Pearl and Fusion Black – see balanced demand, with an equal number of bookings. Kia India claims that it has already delivered 400 units to customers.
As we had reported earlier, Kia India is looking to increase production of the Carnival and has requested the headquarters for more kits. The new Carnival is assembled at Kia India’s plant in Ananthapur, AP that can assemble about 300 units of the MPV a month from semi-knocked down (SKD) kits.
Among the highlights of Kia’s fourth-gen Carnival are a powered second-row captain's chairs with heating, ventilation and extendable leg support, a 12-way powered driver’s seat, dual 12.3-inch curved displays, dual electric sunroofs, three-zone climate control, a 11-inch head-up display, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system. The MPV, which has no direct rivals in our market at the moment, comes with a sole 193hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox; it has an ARAI-rated 14.85kpl fuel efficiency.
