  • Mahindra Bolero Neo expected to come with two body styles
  • Will be positioned above the standard Bolero

2021 Mahindra Bolero Neo: design and styling

Sources tell us that Mahindra will equip the Bolero Neo with an altered front end (compared to the current TUV300), with slightly re-profiled headlights, an updated grille, new front bumper, and even LED DRLs. The Bolero Neo is also expected to receive some classic Bolero design cues such as the clam-shell bonnet, squared-off and marginally flared wheel arches and a thick trim piece that will run along the fenders. The side and rear looks aren’t expected get any major changes, apart from some minor trim alterations.

2021 Mahindra Bolero Neo: engine and gearbox details

Under the hood, the Bolero Neo is expected to feature the same 1.5-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine as in the TUV300, though upgraded to meet BS6 norms. It is likely to develop 100hp and 240Nm, with the gearbox option being a 5-speed manual. The Bolero Neo may also get the fuel-saving, engine start-stop feature, as it was on offer with the TUV300.

2021 Mahindra Bolero Neo: expected price

Considering that Mahindra will likely position the Bolero Neo slightly higher than the standard model, expect prices to range between Rs 9-12 lakh (ex-showroom). The Bolero Neo will be aimed at buyers looking for additional performance and comfort over the regular Bolero. Mahindra is hoping the Neo’s ‘Bolero’ nameplate will help increase its appeal to buyers in the compact SUV segment, something the TUV300 never managed.

Mahindra: future plans

The Indian carmaker is planning to launch 12 new models (including the Bolero Neo) over the next 5 years in our market. The upcoming models include the new XUV700, the next-gen, 5-seater XUV500, the XUV900 SUV-coupe, a five-door version of the Thar, the replacements for the Marazzo and the KUV100 and an all-new Bolero, to name a few. Going forward, Mahindra will also be increasing its focus on electric cars.
