Dacia, Renault’s sister brand, will take the wraps off the all-new Duster SUV on November 29 in Portugal, sources tell us. The all-new Duster will also get Renault branding in countries like India, and, as we've reported earlier, it will launch here by 2025.
- New Duster will get a 170hp turbo petrol
- India launch of 5-seater Duster in 2025
- Will get a 7-seat version called Bigster
New Renault Duster to get three engine options
The new Duster will get as many as three petrol engine options – an entry-level 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol; a 140hp, 1.2-litre petrol hybrid; and a 170hp, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that's flex-fuel compliant in the top variants. At 170hp, it will be the most powerful Duster ever to go into production.
New Renault Duster to get rugged, boxy looks
As seen from the spy shots, the new Duster will have boxy looks – a departure from the second-gen SUV it replaces – that gives it a rugged, off-roader appeal. It will, however, sit on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-B modular platform. Dacia’s new, sleeker fascia, which was rolled out across the range as part of mini facelifts last year, also makes an appearance. The Renault-branded SUV, however, will have some design differences.
Three-row Duster likely to be called Bigster
The new Duster will also get a three-row sibling that will be called the Bigster SUV, according to sources, which will see a global debut sometime next year.
Next-gen Duster India launch details
As mentioned earlier, the new Duster will come to India by 2025, and the 5-seater will be a direct contender in the ever-growing midsize SUV segment that also includes the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
