Italian marque Maserati has announced the launch of a new petrol powertrain across three of its models in India. The 3.0-litre, twin-turbo petrol V6-powered Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans have been priced at Rs 1.31-1.44 crore and Rs 1.64-1.73 crore, respectively, while the Levante SUV commands a sum of Rs 1.42-1.53 crore in its new avatar (all prices, ex-showroom, India).
Available across all three models in two states of tune each, the new engine puts out 350hp and 500Nm in the standard guise, while the more exciting S spec boasts an output of 430hp and 580Nm. Compliant with the latest emission norms, the petrol engine is equipped with pneumatic valves in the exhaust system, which are said to help deliver an aural experience befitting a Maserati. A standard 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox handles the transmission duties.
Commenting on the launch, Bojan Jankulovski, head of operations, Maserati India said, “With the introduction of the V6 petrol versions of Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte, we follow through, yet again, on our commitment to satisfy the significantly increasing demand for petrol cars in India. Maserati has been the icon for luxury performance cars with its exquisite line-up of beautifully crafted vehicles, and we will continue to fulfill our customers’ penchant for world-class standards.”
The company has also used this opportunity to introduce minor tweaks and feature improvements to its models. In their diesel variants, the SUV and sedans get a redesigned gearshift lever and a more user-friendly drive mode selector, in addition to a revised airflow distribution control for the driver and front passenger. The 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been improved with updated graphics and ergonomics.
As before, all three Maseratis get a sporty trim and a more luxury-focused version, aptly named the GranSport and the GranLusso, respectively. The automaker has added the option of the high-grade ‘Pieno Fiore’ leather upholstery and a choice of high-quality interior veneers.
The range of body colours available has been revised with two more tri-coat colours – Rosso Potente and Blu Nobile. Furthering the customisability are new designs of alloy wheels available as 20- and 21-inchers.
Earlier this year, Maserati had confirmed that it will be bringing the full-bloodied 590hp, 3.8-litre petrol V8-powered Levante Trofeo to our shores in the near future. Interestingly, the Italian automaker has now revealed that the Levante GTS SUV, with same V8 powertrain, albeit in a lower 530hp state of tune, will be also making it to our markets soon enough.
