Joining a growing band of automakers that are relaxing service and warranty timelines for vehicle owners, Porsche has now announced a similar set of measures. The luxury sports carmaker is extending new car warranties for three months for all vehicles with warranties expiring between March 1 and May 31, 2020. The three-month grace period will be offered beginning from the date of expiration of each individual vehicle’s warranty scheme. The same consideration even applies to customers whose ‘Porsche Approved’ warranties or extended warranties are set to expire during the same time period.

These measures come at no additional cost to Porsche owners and are valid worldwide. The company says that the initiative has been instituted in response to the “impact of COVID-19 which has restricted business operations at many Porsche Centres since March.”

Commenting on Porsche’s latest move to address maintenance concerns amongst its customers in these times of restricted movements, Daniel Schukraft, head, aftersales, Porsche AG, said, “Our ultimate aim is to create enthusiasm among our customers – this includes providing outstanding services particularly in difficult times. We have therefore decided to implement a uniform and unbureaucratic solution worldwide. Customers do not have to do anything, the Porsche Centers will process the extension automatically.”

Porsche’s new car warranty schemes are generally clocked at two years and the ‘Porsche Approved’ warranty for pre-owned cars covers a period of at least 12 months, with an option to extend it.

Porsche had a busy 2019 in India. It launched the new 911, Macan facelift as well as the Cayenne Coupe last year. In the past, the German marquee had also confirmed its efforts of bringing in the Taycan to our market this year, however, the effect of the global pandemic on the EV’s India launch timeline remains to be seen.
