Almost exactly a year after its global premiere, the Porsche Macan facelift has been launched in India, with the base, four-cylinder model priced at Rs 69.98 lakh, and the V6-engined Porsche Macan S priced at Rs 85.03 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). This price point is something Porsche has worked on to ensure the Macan is accessible to a wider buyer base and is seen as a real alternative to its German rivals.

The entry-level Macan packs a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that develops 252hp and 370Nm of torque. Those seeking a more powerful engine will be interested in the Macan S, which is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine that makes 354hp and 480Nm of torque. All that added punch means the Macan S can do 0-100kph in just 5.3sec (1.4sec quicker than the four-cylinder Macan) and clock a top speed of 254kph. What’s remarkable is that at Rs 85 lakh, the facelifted Macan S costs just Rs 5 lakh more than the pre-facelift, four-cylinder Macan, and Rs 7 lakh more than its rival-in-chief, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43.

In a first for Porsche in India, the Macan facelift will be available with customised service packages priced starting at Rs 1.43 lakh for the base Macan and going up to Rs 1.52 lakh for the Macan S.

In terms of changes on the outside, the Macan facelift sports an LED light bar that connects the tail-lights. At the front is a redesigned bumper and new LED headlights, with the signature Porsche four-point daytime running lights. There are new paint options on offer too – Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, Miami Blue and Crayon. Inside, the big new addition is the Porsche Communication Management system, with a 10.9-inch, full-HD touchscreen infotainment system. Customers can also opt for the optional GT sports steering wheel that gets a Sport Response button – a feature borrowed from the 911.

Having announced its decision to not make diesel cars anymore, Porsche has said there will also be an all-electric version of the new, second-generation Macan that debuts in 2021. Earlier this year, the carmaker launched the new-generation 911 in India, and this will be followed by the launch of the Cayenne coupé by October 2019. Also set to be launched in India next year is the all-electric Porsche Taycan.
