The production-spec Volkswagen Taigun will be revealed on March 31, 2021. The Taigun is one of the most important models for the German brand in India and also its first offering under the India 2.0 strategy.

Production-spec Volkswagen Taigun: What to expect?
The Taigun SUV in its production guise will be more or less similar to the model that was shown in concept form, last year at the Auto Expo 2020. The model gets familiar Volkswagen styling bits that make it resemble the larger VW SUV's like the Tiguan to name a few. Based on the tailor made MQB-A0-IN platform, the Taigun will be around 4.2-metres long and will have a 2.6-metre wheelbase, which is longer than most of its rivals.

On the inside, the dashboard will have a multi-layer effect with subtle chrome bits and body-coloured bits as well, depending on the exterior paint shade. The SUV will come with a long list of features that include a sunroof, a 10-inch infotainment screen as well as a fully configurable digital infotainment screen to name a few.
Production-spec Volkswagen Taigun: Engine, powertrain options
The Taigun will come with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine good for 115hp and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that will deliver 150hp. The same engines will be seen powering more India 2.0 cars from the Volkswagen Group in the future. Gearbox options will include a six-speed manual for both engines, and a dual-clutch automatic for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit.
Production-spec Volkswagen Taigun: Competition
As far as competition goes, the Taigun will take on the likes of the popular Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and also the upcoming Skoda Kushaq SUV that will be underpinned by the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Taigun. Expect a price announcement for the Volkswagen Taigun to take place in the coming months.
Volkswagen car and SUV line-up for India in 2021
Apart from the Taigun, Volkswagen India has re-introduced the T-Roc in the Indian market. Additionally, the five-seat Tiguan will also see a re-entry in India in the coming months and will join the already-on-sale Tiguan AllSpace SUV. The next product from the German brand as part of its India 2.0 strategy will be an all-new sedan that will replace the Vento in the Indian market. Expect more details to emerge on this new sedan later this year.
