Land Rover has launched the updated Range Rover Evoque in India at Rs 67.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), in a single trim – Dynamic SE. Bookings are underway for the Evoque and the updates include a slightly revised exterior design and an overhauled interior with lots of new tech, although the powertrain options are the same.

  1. Evoque facelift gets a slightly revised front styling
  2. Interior gets an all-new touchscreen with Pivi Pro software
  3. Is powered by 2.0-litre, mild-hybrid petrol and diesel engines

Incidentally, the pre-facelift Evoque was priced higher at Rs 73.07 lakh, but it was available in a sportier R-Dynamic SE trim. In fact, the smallest Range Rover is now priced at par with the 7-seater Discovert Sport from Land Rover’s own stable.

Range Rover Evoque exterior design

The exterior updates are rather minimal – there’s a redesigned grille with detailing similar to larger Range Rovers, new super-slim LED headlamps with redesigned LED running lamp signatures, new red brake calipers and a new twin 10-spoke design for the alloy wheels. This aside, there are two new colours to choose from – Corinthian Bronze and Tribeca Blue.

Range Rover Evoque interior and features

The more notable changes are on the inside where it gets an all-new 11.4-inch curved touchscreen infotainment system running the latest Pivi Pro software. This has led to a complete redesign of the dashboard, which now sports a far cleaner look and seems inspired by its larger siblings. Rotary dials for the HVAC controls have now made way for a concealed storage area that also features a wireless charging pad. There’s also a new gear lever on the redesigned centre console.

There’s no physical switchgear on the dashboard, but it’s compensated by a sidebar on either end of the touchscreen that provides access to all critical functions such as climate, seating and audio controls at all times. JLR says this allows 80 percent of all tasks to be performed within two taps. There’s also a new steering wheel and an all-digital instrument cluster.

Other features of note include heated and cooled front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree surround view camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, OTA software updates and a new PM 2.5 air purification system.

Range Rover Evoque engine, specs

The Evoque remains the same mechanically: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit that produces 247hp and 365Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel that produces 201hp and 430Nm of torque.

Both engines get a 48V mild-hybrid system with a belt integrated starter generator that recuperates energy from braking, assists in acceleration and are mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. All-wheel drive is standard with JLR’s Terrain Response system getting seven modes: Eco, Comfort, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Ruts, Sand, Dynamic and Automatic. The 360-degree camera also allows for a clear view through the bonnet, which is a nifty feature in tricky offroad situations.

The Evoque rivals the likes of the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and the Volvo XC60. We have already driven the updated Evoque and you can watch the review here.
