Skoda Auto India will take the wraps off the India-spec Karoq SUV on February 3, 2020. The model will sit below the Kodiaq in the brand’s India portfolio and will be shown to the general public at the 2020 Auto Expo, which starts on February 5. New spy shots sent by our 10-year-old reader Rihaan Sawant show the SUV continuing its road tests on the outskirts of Pune. A price announcement for the Karoq in India is expected to take place sometime in mid-April 2020.
The company had confirmed an India launch of the Karoq SUV last month. The model will be brought to India as a CBU (completely built-up unit). Skoda will offer the Karoq in India initially with a single 150hp, 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine option coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The Karoq will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Volkswagen T-Roc SUV that will also launch in India in the coming months.
Apart from the Karoq, Skoda will also take the wraps off a close-to-production version of the India 2.0 SUV named Skoda VisionIN concept at the same event on February 3, 2020.
