The Tata Harrier and Safari, which make up the brand’s flagship SUV line-up, are set to see a major revamp. Sources tell us that the heavily updated Tata Harrier and Safari wlll likely launch by October 2023. Both facelifts will sport fresh exterior design, interior elements, more tech and could also get an upgraded powertrain.

Tata Motors has already begun road testing the Harrier and Safari facelifts. Recently, the Safari facelift test mule was seen on the outskirts of Pune and a closer look revealed that it had some common design cues as the Harrier EV concept that was previewed at Auto Expo 2023.
Tata Harrier, Safari facelifts: major updates on the outside
Both facelifts will get a completely new front fascia replete with the familiar split headlamp design. As part of the design update, the main headlamp cluster on the revised bumper is expected to be positioned vertically and more towards the edges. The reworked grille also gets a fresh design with vertical slats. A full LED lightbar above the grille is likely, connecting the headlamps with each other, a feature also expected to be seen in the upcoming Nexon facelift that will go on sale by August this year.
Both SUVs will also get reworked tail-lamps connected with an LED light bar, a mildly altered tailgate design and new-look alloy wheels, among other design tweaks.
Tata Harrier, Safari facelifts: refreshed interior
Along with the RDE compliance and BS6 Phase 2 upgrades, both the Harrier and Safari SUVs recently received a new 10.25-inch screen in the higher-spec trims and a few more features like ADAS.
In the next update, the Harrier and Safari facelifts are additionally expected to get design tweaks to the dashboard, and new textures and shades for the interior, according to sources.
Tata Harrier, Safari facelifts: powertrain
The refreshed Harrier and Safari facelifts will continue to be powered by its 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 170hp and 350Nm of torque, mated to either 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes.
Tata Safari facelifts: production, launch plan
Tata Motors will start building the Harrier, Safari facelifts at its Omega factory inside the Pimpri plant from September 2023 and a market launch could be expected by October 2023, just before Diwali. Upon launch, it will continue its rivalry with the likes of the 7-seat Mahindra XUV700, the Hyundai Alcazar and the refreshed MG Hector Plus.
