The Toyota Innova Hycross has been on sale since December 28, 2022, and waiting periods for the MPV are still quite long. Demand continues to be strong for both the Hycross petrol and hybrid variants.

  1. Hycross Hybrid waiting period is between 9-12 months
  2. Top-spec ZX and ZX(O) bookings not reopened officially
  3. Hycross petrol waiting period is between 4-6 months

The Hycross hybrid is available in four trims – VX, VX(O), ZX and ZX(O) – and its demand is still quite high. Toyota had paused bookings for the top-spec hybrid variants, which resulted in a corresponding decrease in deliveries; the Japanese brand dispatched 1,957 units of the Hycross Hybrid in April 2023, compared to 4,501 units in March 2023.

Bookings for the ZX and ZX(O) trims of the Hycross are yet to reopen, and waiting periods for the VX and VX(O) trims now extend between 9-12 months. Despite all this, Toyota has recorded average monthly sales of about 2,720 units of the hybrid between January-June 2023.

The global semiconductor shortage seems to continue to have an adverse effect on the delivery of higher variants of the Hycross, despite Toyota having announced that it will ramp up production in April this year.

The petrol-powered Hycross – available in G and GX trims – is comparatively a much slower seller, but demand is still decently high. In the six-month period between January-June 2023, Toyota sold 3,387 units of the Hycross petrol, which averages to about 565 units a month. Still, customers who book their Hycross petrol today will have to wait about 4-6 months for delivery.

Toyota Hycross price, engines

The Innova Hycross range gets two powertrain options – a 172hp, 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 184hp, 2.0-litre strong-hybrid. Both are only offered with an automatic transmission – a CVT gearbox for the petrol and an e-Drive transmission for the strong-hybrid. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency figure of 23.24kpl for the hybrid, while the petrol Hycross has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 16.13kpl.

Prices for the petrol Hycross range from Rs 18.82 lakh-19.72 lakh, while the hybrid variants (VX and VX(O)) are priced between Rs 25.3 lakh-27.32 lakh.
