A Hyundai Tucson-sized 5-seat e-SUV, the VF 7 features an almost swoopy, crossover-like silhouette, sporting light units at the front and rear that form VinFast’s V motifs. In markets abroad, there are two trims available – Eco and Plus. While both are powered by a 75.3kWh (net) battery pack, the Eco has a single front motor making 204hp and 310Nm of torque; the Plus gets a dual motor setup that produces a combined 354hp and 500Nm.

VinFast claims a WLTP-rated range of 450km for the VF 7 Eco and 431km for the Plus. Other differences between the two trims include the alloy wheels – Eco gets 19-inchers while Plus gets 20- and 21-inch options – and the size of the infotainment touchscreen – 12.9-inch for the Eco and 15-inch for the Plus. On the other hand, a Level 2 ADAS suite is standard on both.

VinFast VF 9

The largest e-SUV in VinFast’s line-up abroad, the VF 9 is a three-row SUV capable of seating six or seven and is bigger than the Audi Q7 overall. Both variants – Eco and Plus – have the same 123kWh battery pack that has a claimed WLTP range of up to 531km and a dual-motor AWD setup with a combined output of 408hp and 620Nm of torque. VinFast claims a 0-100kph time of 6.6 seconds for the Eco version (which weighs 2,911kg and comes in 7-seat form only) and a 6.7-second time for the Plus (2,959-2,968kg kerb weight, depending on whether it’s specced in 6-seat or 7-seat configuration).

Along with roof rails and larger 21-inch alloy wheels (the Eco gets 20-inchers), the Plus variant gets features such as auto-dimming outside rearview mirrors, powered, heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats with a massage function, an 8-inch rear infotainment screen, 13 speakers with a sub-woofer and a panoramic sunroof.

VinFast had begun construction on its Tamil Nadu plant in February last year and appointed former Skoda India director Zac Hollis as its Asia head in January. More details about the models for India, along with VinFast’s plans for our market, will be revealed in the coming week, so stay tuned.
