As part of the agreement, the duo will be offering the subscription-based service in the following key cities – Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad – in the first phase.

Customers can choose from either the Polo, Vento or T-Roc. All-inclusive monthly rental for the Polo has been pegged at Rs 16,500, while that for the Vento is Rs 27,000. Meanwhile, the T-Roc can be had on subscription for a monthly charge of Rs 59,000.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr Ashish Gupta, brand director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “Car subscription is gaining popularity, especially amongst the urban young middle class, looking for a convenient ownership experience. Catering to the needs of this customer segment, we are pleased to extend our partnership with ORIX, and enhance our leasing and subscription platform, that will focus on providing accessibility and peace of mind ownership to prospective customers.”

Volkswagen gearing up for Taigun launch

Meanwhile, the company is also gearing up for the launch of the Taigun midsize SUV on September 23. The Taigun is the first VW model to be based on the heavily localised MQB-A0-IN platform and arguably the brand's most important product for India in quite a while. Following that, there will be an all-new sedan replacing the ageing Vento based on the same platform in 2022.
