Volkswagen has showcased a special edition of the Polo at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show. Named the Polo VRS, the car is based Polo TSI, but gets an upgrade in power along with some cosmetic add-ons.

The Polo VRS that was displayed is based on the fifth-generation Polo that is also on sale in India, and not the sixth-gen model that was displayed at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show. The Polo VRS gets a black spoiler, larger 16-inch black alloy wheels and VRS badging on the sides. The hot-hatch comes with a blacked-out front bumper lip with a silver insert in middle. There are no significant changes in the interiors of the car.

The most significant upgrade in the VRS is the addition of Performance Package. The 1.2-litre engine now puts out 140hp and 230Nm of torque. This is a hike of 35hp and 55Nm over the outgoing 1.2-litre engine.

Volkswagen recently launched the Polo in India with a 1.0-litre engine that produces 76hp and 95Nm of torque. It would be interesting to see if the German carmaker decides to eventually bring in the special edition Polo VRS to India. Though, there has been no official word from Volkswagen regarding the Indian launch.
