Expected to come with a 265hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine

The new Tiguan is based on the MQB Evo platform, and the India-spec R Line model can be expected with a 265hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. It will come mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and get all-wheel drive. For reference, the existing Tiguan in India is available with a 190hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Internationally, the Tiguan R Line also gets a range of mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid petrols and a diesel engine, but these are unlikely to come to India.
