Xiaomi has shown a track-focused iteration of its stylish SU7 electric sedan: the SU7 Ultra. With this EV sedan, the Chinese phone maker plans to snatch the Nürburgring lap record for EVs, currently held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT at 7 minutes 5.55 seconds.

  1. Xiaomi SU7 Ultra gets a total of 1,548hp
  2. 0-100kph in a claimed 1.97 seconds; 0-300kph in 15.07 seconds
  3. Has a claimed weight of 1,900kg

Xiaomi SUV7 Ultra: powertrain and performance

The SU7 Ultra gets a pair of Xiaomi’s new ‘V8s’ electric motors, each putting out 578hp. On the front, it gets the ‘V6s’ unit. The total power output is 1,548hp, which is 440hp more than the Taycan Turbo GT.

With all the power add-ons, the SU7 can hit 100kph in 1.97 seconds and 0-300kph in 15.07 seconds with a top speed of over 350kph, according to Xiaomi. Stopping power comes from uprated AP Racing brakes and sticky Pirelli P Zero tyres, giving a 100kph to 0 braking distance of just 25 metres.

Weight and downforce management is taken care of by a carbon fibre bodykit. The SU7 Ultra weighs 1,900kg, according to the manufacturer.

Nürburgring record attempt plans

Xiaomi says the prototype shown will attempt to beat the Nürburgring record for a non-production EV set by Volkswagen I.D. R at 6 minutes and 5.336 seconds in October last year. A production-spec SU7 would take on the challenge next year.

A production version of the standard Xiaomi SU7 sedan was recently shown in India. Read more on that here.
