Every year, the Geneva motor show springs a few surprises; and this year, Bugatti wowed the world with the revelation of the world’s most expensive new car – the Bugatti La Voiture Noire – translated from French, it means ‘the black car’. The La Voiture Noire is a one-off tribute to Jean Bugatti’s iconic Type 57 SC Atlantic and is priced at 11 million Euros (approximately Rs 88 crore). While the one-off Bugatti is already spoken for, here’s a list of the most expensive cars you can buy in India.
But first, a disclaimer: The prices listed here are base ex-showroom prices. Each model comes with an extensive (and extremely costly) list of options that makes them even more expensive.
10. Rolls-Royce Ghost – Rs 4.3-4.9 crore
An entry-point to the Rolls-Royce brand, the Ghost is sold in two versions in our country – SWB and EWB. Thanks to its sheer presence, cabin insulation and ride quality, the Ghost provides a regal motoring experience. Powered by a 570hp, V12 engine, the Ghost is no slouch, either.
9. Rolls-Royce Wraith – Rs 4.6 crore
The Wraith is Rolls-Royce’s take on a sporty, luxury coupé. The Wraith is far more dynamic to drive in comparison to its stablemates, without compromising on luxury and refinement. It is powered by a 632hp, 6.6-litre V12 and will set you back a cool Rs 4.6 crore (before taxes and options).
8. Ferrari 812 Superfast – Rs 5.2 crore
The 812 Superfast is the latest super GT from Maranello. It has a screaming 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 that puts out 800hp and 718Nm of torque, enough to propel it from 0-100kph in 2.9sec before reaching a maximum speed of 340kph. The Ferrari 812 Superfast is high on style, high on performance and most certainly high on price.
7. Ferrari GTC4 Lusso V12 – Rs 5.2 crore
A replacement for the FF, the GTC4 Lusso is one of the most stylish ways to transport four passengers quickly. In true Ferrari fashion, the Lusso is offered with either a V8 or a V12 under its hood, both of which are ballistic. The styling may divide opinion, but the performance certainly won’t.
6. Lamborghini Aventador S – Rs 5.89 crore* (on-road price)
It’s hard to imagine the Aventador S as the ‘regular’ V12 Lamborghini. With the introduction of the SVJ, the S is the softer, road-focused version of the Aventador. Mind you, its 740hp engine is nothing short of epic and combined with its jaw-dropping looks, it will give you an experience unlike any other.
5. Rolls-Royce Dawn – Rs 6.25 crore
Claimed to be the quietest convertible in the world, the Dawn is as opulent and refined as any other Rolls-Royce. It shares its 632hp, V12 powerplant with the Wraith and provides the most luxurious open-top motoring experience.
4. Bentley Mulsanne Speed – Rs 6.9 crore
The Mulsanne Speed is the embodiment of everything Bentley stands for. It is definitely one of the fastest ultra-luxury sedans in the world, being powered by a 6.8-litre V8 under the hood that puts out 537hp and a mammoth 1,100Nm of torque.
3. Rolls-Royce Cullinan – Rs 6.95 crore
The uber-luxurious Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the most expensive SUV in the world. It is the first four-wheel-drive vehicle from the British marque and it features off-road modes too, ensuring that the passengers travel in utmost comfort, no matter what the terrain is like. The Cullinan is priced at Rs 6.95 crore but buyers can easily add up to Rs 1 crore to its price tag by customising it.
2. Lamborghini Aventador SVJ – Rs 8.5 crore (estimated)
The latest in a line of impressive V12 Lambos, the Aventador SVJ is arguably the best one yet. Its 6.5-litre V12 now produces a mammoth 770hp and 720Nm of torque, which is enough to complete the 0-100kph dash in 2.8sec and clock a top speed in excess of 350kph. Limited to just 900 units worldwide, each one is said to cost upwards of Rs 8.5 crore.
1. Rolls-Royce Phantom – Rs 9.5-11.35 crore
The eight-generation Phantom is Rolls-Royce’s flagship model. If there is any car that can hold the claim to be the king of the car world, it’s the Phantom. Priced at 9.5 crore for the standard and 11.35 crore for the extended-wheelbase model, the Phantom is currently the most expensive car on sale in India. Like all Rolls-Royces, the Phantom can be customised extensively as per the owner’s taste.
