Land Rover India has just announced that it has begun deliveries of the BS6-compliant petrol engine-equipped Discovery Sport facelift and all-new Range Rover Evoque. Both models utilise the same petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech and are available in two trim levels – S and R-Dynamic SE.
Which petrol engine do the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque use?
The engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol unit from JLR’s Ingenium family of engines; it produces 250hp and 365Nm of torque. The engine also comes with a 48V mild-hybrid system for better fuel efficiency and is paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all-four wheels. It is worth noting that both models came with a 180hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine eight from launch.
What are the features on offer with the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque?
As mentioned above, both SUVs are available in S and R-Dynamic SE trim levels. Both trims are well-kitted as the entry level ‘S’ model comes with heated wing mirrors, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloys, 10-way power adjustable front seats, cruise control and Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 all-wheel drive system are standard. It also gets the carmaker’s InControl Touch Pro 10-inch infotainment touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and navigation. In top-spec guise, you additionally get a digital instrument cluster, 14-way power adjustable front seats and a dual-touchscreen layout for the infotainment system.
What are the prices for the petrol Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque?
The BS6 petrol Land Rover Discovery Sport is priced at Rs 59.98 lakh for the S model and Rs 63.32 lakh for the R-Dynamic SE. The BS6 petrol Range Rover Evoque, however, is priced at Rs 58 lakh for the base trim and Rs 61.94 lakh for the top-spec variant. Due to their similar pricing, the Discovery Sport and Evoque compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and Audi Q5. However, the Discovery Sport’s 5+2 seater configuration helps set it apart from its competitors.
