Citroen Basalt prices hiked by up to Rs 26,000

    Citroen India increased the variant-wise prices of its Basalt coupe SUV in January. Out of the eight trims, only the Basalt Plus' price remained unchanged. This is the first hike since the SUV made its India debut in August 2024.

    Citroen Basalt price hike

    The Basalt SUV has three variants – You, Plus and Max – which are further divided into sub-trims based on the engine type (naturally aspirated or turbocharged), transmission and whether they are single or dual tone. Notably, both You and Plus variants can be had with either an NA or a turbo engine, while the top-spec Max trim is offered exclusively in the turbo guise. Only the Basalt You lacks a turbo engine.

    With an increase of Rs 26,000, the base Basalt You variant, priced at Rs 8.25 lakh, has become the most expensive since its launch at Rs 7.99 lakh. It is followed by the Plus Turbo manual and AT trims, priced at Rs 11.77 lakh and Rs 12.91 lakh, respectively, with a hike of Rs 16,000. The manual Max Turbo (Rs 12.49 lakh) and Max Turbo Dual Tone (Rs 12.7 lakh) have become dearer by Rs 9,000. Lastly, the range-topping Max Turbo AT and Max Turbo AT Dual Tone are now priced at Rs 13.79 lakh and Rs 13.99 lakh, marking a Rs 5,000 increase.

    Citroen Basalt powertrain details

    Citroen offers the Basalt with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine in either NA or turbo form. The former puts out 82hp and 115Nm with a manual gearbox, while the latter takes it up to 110hp and 190Nm (MT)/ 205Nm(AT).

    Even after its 2025 price hike, the Citroen Basalt continues to be the most affordable offering in the compact coupe SUV segment. The Tata Curvv, its closest rival, is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 17.49 lakh.
