The eMG 6 has made its first public appearance in our country at the 2018 Autocar Performance Show. This car is the plug-in hybrid version of the MG 6 sedan.

The eMG 6 is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol motor, which when combined with the electric motor puts out 225hp and 622Nm of torque. The sedan has a claimed range of 705km when run in hybrid mode and 53km when run on electric power, alone.

In terms of size, the eMG 6 measures 4,695mm in length, 1,848mm in width and 1,458mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,715mm long and the plug-in hybrid has a 30-litre fuel tank. The sedan has a kerb weight of 1,465kg and its wheels come wrapped in 215/50 R17-sized tyres.

The eMG 6 will be loaded with equipment like LED headlamps, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats with heating, and electric adjustment for the front seats and rain-sensing wipers. It also gets a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with voice control and an Arkamys sound system, as well as a large, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

MG Motor will start its innings in India with the launch of a mid-size SUV in 2019. The SUV will be priced competitively, thanks to heavy localization. Company sources have revealed that MG will initially focus on SUVs for the Indian market. There are no plans to sell the eMG 6 sedan in India and is here only as a tech demonstrater.
