Ford will showcase the Mustang, one of the most well-known cars in the world, at Auto Expo 2016 in February. We had revealed a while back that the iconic Mustang is to hit our shores shortly.

The current Mustang is a sixth-generation model that was officially unveiled in 2014 to mark its 50th year. The latest Mustang is lighter and stiffer, with a bigger cabin that benefits from a major quality upgrade as compared to its predecessor.

The current-generation Mustang is the first to be available in right-hand drive configuration. Internationally, the Mustang is available with three engine options – a 306bhp 2.3-litre, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, a 296bhp 3.7-litre V6, and a 437bhp 5.0-litre V8. Apart from the standard coupé version, Ford also sells the Mustang as a drop-top internationally. However, the model launched in India will mostly be a hard-top version.

According to company sources, India will get the Mustang with a full-blown 437bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine. Test mules of the V8-equipped right-hand-drive Mustang GT have been spotted in India.

The features on the latest Ford Mustang include fully independent front and rear suspension, high-performance brakes with four-piston callipers (six for the V8 version), 19-inch alloy wheels, HID headlamps, puddle lamps with Mustang logo projection, an infotainment system with a 2.8-inch touchscreen, ambient interior lighting and four driving modes.

For India, the coupé is likely to come with a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. The Mustang will be Ford’s halo product for India and will be directly imported as a CBU. Prices for the Mustang GT V8 could be somewhere around Rs 80 lakh.
