Hyundai has been drip feeding information about the new Creta, but leaked pictures on the internet have now given us a complete look at the exterior of the SUV. The Creta facelift gets an all-new front and rear end that’s specific to India, along with a completely overhauled interior.

    1. New Creta looks more upright and boxier
    2. Interior gets twin connected 10.25-inch infotainment screens
    3. Gets new 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine

UPDATE: Hyundai Creta facelift design sketches revealed ahead of January 16 launch

The Creta facelift gets an all-new face that's more upright and boxy, and it has a new grille, headlamp and bumper assembly. There’s a full-width LED light bar with inverted L-shaped elements at the edges, while the main LED headlamp cluster is now rectangular and vertically positioned on the bumper. The grille, too, is rectangular now with three horizontal slats, and, together with the lower portion of the bumper, looks a lot more blocky than before. The dual-tone finish to the bumper with the faux silver skid plates also give it a very muscular look.

Gone is the split tail-lamp setup at the rear, and in its place is a single blacked-out horizontal band that houses the full-width LED lamps mimicking the front-end design. This has also necessitated a repositioning of the number plate housing. Lastly, the rear bumper looks a lot chunkier than before, and has new block-like details.

The only change visible in profile are a new set of alloy wheels.

The interior, too, has an all-new design with twin 10.25-inch connected screens. The dashboard wraps around the screens rather elegantly, and the AC vent on the passenger side is now incorporated within a gloss black horizontal band on the dashboard. The HVAC panel has also been revised, but it thankfully retains a band of physical buttons and toggles.

Creature comforts on higher trims of the Creta facelift include dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, an eight-way powered driver’s seat, Level 2 ADAS suite that is said to have 19 functions, 360-degree cameras, a blind spot monitoring system, among others.

    Hyundai Creta facelift engine options

Under the hood, the Creta facelift will continue with the 115hp, 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, with a manual gearbox as standard, and CVT and torque converter gearboxes, respectively, as options. The turbo-petrol makes a comeback in the form of the 160hp, 1.5-litre engine that replaces the now-discontinued 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, and will get only a DCT gearbox.

Hyundai has opened bookings for the Creta facelift and deliveries are expected to begin by late January. The Creta facelift will continue to rival the Kia SeltosMaruti Grand VitaraHonda Elevate, MG Astor and Volkswagen Taigun in the midsize SUV segment.
