These are the first spy pictures of  the Chinese carmaker, Great Wall Motors’ Haval H5 SUV,  sent by our reader Vinod who spotted it testing in Chandigarh. Our sources tell us that ICML, who manufacture the Sonalika Rhino MUV, plan to launch this vehicle to India.

The Haval H5 is also referred to in some markets as the X240 and sold as a five or a seven-seater vehicle with either manual or automatic gearbox. It sports an upmarket-looking exterior styling. The H5 is 4649mm long, 1810mm wide and 1735mm tall and available in many markets in both 4X2 and 4X4 versions. Its 2700mm wheelbase is same as that of the Mahindra XUV500, a little longer than the Safari Storme (2650mm) and slightly shorter than the Aria (2850mm).

Globally, engine choices include a 2.4-litre petrol engine that churns out 134bhp and 20.3kgm of torque and a 2.5-litre diesel which is good for 107bhp and 30.5kgm of torque.  However, ICML is likely to launch a diesel variant here. The H5 will be pitched against the XUV, Aria and the Force One.
