Mahindra, for long, has been experiencing supply chain issues leading to extended waiting periods on its popular SUVs like the Scorpio N, XUV700 and the Thar. It’s been nearly a year since the company launched the Scorpio N, and although the waiting period has reduced over time, it still stretches to beyond a year in most places.
- Maximum waiting period on Scorpio N stretches to 75 weeks
- Average waiting period for most variants is between 50-55 weeks
- Top-end variants have lower waiting period than base, mid-spec variants
Mahindra Scorpio N waiting period details
The Scorpio N is available in a total of five trims – Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8L. It’s the base Z4 trim in both petrol and diesel guise that has the maximum waiting period of up to 18 months. Meanwhile, the top-spec Z8L variants have a relatively lesser waiting period, extending up to 9 months. On an average, most variants of the Scorpio N have a waiting period of about 12 months.
Our dealer sources have confirmed that it’s the top-spec Z8 and Z8L variants that are in most demand, and hence, Mahindra has been prioritising the production of these variants. This explains the lower waiting period on the higher trims, while the base and mid-spec variants continue with very high waiting period.
That said, Mahindra has been ramping up production of the Scorpio N in a phased manner, and that has helped reduce the waiting period on the popular SUV by a significant amount. Previously, some variants of the Scorpio N, including the top-spec, had a waiting period that extended to over two years. Mahindra now plans to increase the production of the Scorpio N from 6,000 units to 10,000 units a month by the fourth quarter of 2024.
