Maruti Suzuki and Society of Automotive Engineers India (SAEINDIA) have announced the finale of SUPRA SAEINDIA 2015 — a platform that encourages engineering students to conceptualize, design, fabricate and run a Formula-prototype car, while displaying their talent in the field of automobile engineering. This is the fourth edition of SUPRA after it began in 2011. The finale will be held at the Chennai Motor Race Track between July 15 - 19. The 2015 edition will have around 2,200 engineering students, representing 167 engineering colleges, competing for the winning title.
A combined effort by Maruti Suzuki India and SAEINDIA, SUPRA is directed towards the Automotive Mission Plan 2016, a aimed at making India an international automotive hub.

“In this process, students learn to develop a design, understand the process of new product development, industrial procurement, manufacturing, assembly and prototyping. The selected prototypes are then tested in standard test conditions to measure parameters like manoeuvrability, technological innovation, endurance, fuel economy, performance and stability,” said Sirish Vissa.
