Maruti Suzuki has partnered with the Punjab government to manage and run 32 driving schools in the state.
The institutes will offer driver training through the use of simulators, classrooms and practical training. The carmaker will provide the simulators, training cars (with dual control accessories) and the curriculum. Maruti is aiming to train 10,000 learners annually in the first phase, and is likely to make an investment of about Rs 3 crore in a phased manner for the venture.
A MoU has also been signed by Ashwini Kumar, State Transport commissioner, Government of Punjab and RS Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki.
The Maruti-run driving schools will be located near automated driving test tracks which will be used by RTOs to conduct driving tests for license seekers.
